  • What are the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals?
    The Sustainable Development Summit was held from 25-27 September 2015 at the UN Headquarters in New York. Countries officially adopted the historic new agenda, entitled “Transforming Our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” which was agreed upon by the 193 Member States of the United Nations, and includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). What are the 17 SDGs?   • Why is it important that projects link to SDGs?
    Getting SDG-linked projects off the ground ensures an organisation’s contribution is future-proofed for sustainability. More record-breaking means sustainability improves around the world!
  • What if more than one SDG is linked to a record?
    Record breaking should focus on one SDG. If there is more than one SDG that is linked to a record, please submit a separate application for each.
  • How do we apply to set or break a record?

  • How do we register to get an organisation code?

  • How do record titles get approved?
    Please see the Certificate Specification page.
  • What record titles can we attempt?
    SDG World Records recognises records which are the best in the world. We do not verify national/country-specific achievements. Please see the Record Criteria page.
  • What are the most common reasons applications are rejected?
    Discontinued titles with SDG Record criteria not met Research Inappropriate/offensive Please see the Record Criteria page
  • Does SDG World Records support (potential) record holders?
    SDG World Records aims to provide organisations the opportunity to create more sustainability/social projects. SocietyNext Foundation collaborates with other SDG-linked social funders to support NGOs/NPOs/social enterprises at different stages around the world. Please see the Funding Support page
  • Who holds a particular record title?
    The sponsor (either individuals or organisations) and organiser (must be organisations) co-hold a particular record title. They are called the Record Holder. Participants can apply for a participation certificate; they are called a Record Participant. Please see the Roles page
  • Who holds a particHow do we get an adjudicator to attend my record attempt?l
    If you would like an official SDG World Records adjudicator to attend your record attempt and provide on the spot verification, you may be interested in the Engagement Module service. Please see the Pricing page
  • We have a record idea, can I speak to someone about it first?"
    The record application procedure has two stages. The first stage objective is to ensure your idea can convert into an SDG World Record. This is free of charge. Please see the Application Process page
  • What if there is more than one organiser or sponsor?
    If there is more than one organiser or sponsor, SDG World Records can issue a certificate for each sponsor/organiser with their own name. Each certificate will be charged separately. If there are many organisers, the primary organiser or “Organised by different Parties” will appear on the organiser’s certificate. If there are many sponsors, the primary sponsor or “Sponsored by different Parties” will appear on the sponsor’s certificate. Please see the Pricing page
  • Is there any discount for NGOs/NPOs?
    Registered organization who are qualified NGO/NPO will enjoy community rate of application fee.
  • Can individuals apply for an SDG World Record?
    Individuals can be sponsors but only organisations can fill the organiser role required to apply for an SDG World Record. If you have a good idea to contribute to a sustainable future, we encourage you to collaborate with people to bring more sustainability/social projects to life faster.
  • We are a commercial company; can we be both sponsor and organiser for a record?
    Yes. Register your company as a registered organisation on the Regiration page, and then fill your company name into the sponsor field when submitting your record application. If additional support needs, please email to sponsor@sdg.do.
  • How will I receive my certificate?
    Certificates are shipped via trackable courier service. This depends on the shipping method selected on your checkout page. Please allow 1-3 weeks from receipt of your certificate for delivery.
  • We’re a Record Holder; how do we purchase additional Record Holder Certificates?
    Please purchase additional certificates via record@sdg.do. The purchase order will be verified by the holder’s registered email. The cost of additional certificates and shipping will be charged to the buyer.
  • I took part in an event. How do I purchase a Certificate of Participation?
    You can order your own participation certificate via order@sdg.do if your name is shown on the participant section of the eCert page.
  • If my name does not show on the participant section, what can I do?"
    The participant list is submitted by the organiser. Please contact your organiser and ask them to upload your name.
  • Can I amend the certificate text?
    SDG World Records have a certificate specification and record criteria that is adhered to when creating texts for certificates. The record in SDG World Records system is immutable. Please proof-read carefully, as a certificate’s contents will not be amended after it is issued.
  • How long will it take for us to get a response to the record-breaking application?
    It depends on the type of application you opt for, please see the Application Process.
  • Can we send a letter?
    To speed up the application process, SDG World Records are unable to respond to any postal correspondence. All postal correspondence sent to SDG World Records will be securely disposed of upon receipt, so please do not send any postal correspondence. If your enquiry has not been answered by our FAQs, please contact us via email faq@sdg.do.
  • How can we contact SDG World Records?

  • How long does it take to apply record-breaking official challenge?
    Unusally four months from initiative application to record-breaking day
  • Guidance on late submission
    An additional charges would be incurred for the late submission (less than 2 months)
